The latest Fortnite downtime is underway, and everything from matchmaking to login and game services are all under maintenance. If you are trying to login but the servers won't respond, it is because Fortnite is down for maintenance.

What Happened: Epic Games has taken down Fortnite for scheduled maintenance for the v25.20 update for Fortnite Season 3. Fortnite downtime began at 4 am ET, with matchmaking features and servers taken offline a little earlier.

If you are trying to login right now, the servers will throw up an error – according to Fortnite status on Epic Games' website, all services except the website are currently under maintenance.

"Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary," Epic Games said on Fortnite downtime status.

How Long Will Fortnite Downtime Last? Fortnite downtime usually lasts for 2-3 hours. Considering the fact that it began at 4 am ET, the maintenance is already in its third hour. The game should be back up online soon now.

One of the reasons for the relatively longer Fortnite downtime this time is that this is a major update after over one month.

Fortnite will likely be back up and running by 7 am ET, so you should be able to drop on the island once again.
