- The Allied Pilots Association announces that American Airlines Group Inc's (NASDAQ:AAL) pilots have voted to authorize a strike before the busy summer travel season.
- The union representing American Airlines pilots took a strike authorization vote in April regarding salary hikes and working conditions as air traffic increases sharply.
- More than 96% of the Allied Pilots Association members participated in the vote and over 99% voted to authorize a strike.
- "The APA membership has spoken. We will strike if necessary to secure the industry-leading contract that our pilots have earned and deserve – a contract that will position American Airlines for success," stated Capt. Ed Sicher, APA President.

- "We remain confident that an agreement for our pilots is within reach and can be finalized quickly. The finish line is in sight," Reuters reported, quoting a statement from American Airlines.
- According to the report, American's chief executive stated that the carrier is prepared to match the pay rates and profit-sharing formula that rival Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) provided in its new contract.
- Price Action: AAL shares are trading higher by 1.58% at $13.85 on the last check Monday.
