TRU Kids Inc., the licensing company that operates Toys "R" Us, is suing cannabis shop Zaza R US and Nedhal Saleh for brand dilution, reported Bloomberg Law.

“In an effort to confuse the average consumer, defendants are imitating the famous and distinct Toys R Us bubble-typeface, with each letter appearing in a different color, and with a reverse R letter, on its signage for at least one of its infringing stores," the lawsuit states.

According to the International Trademark Association, “unlike trademark infringement, trademark dilution does not necessarily involve the unauthorized use of a mark in connection with goods or services that are confusingly similar to those offered in connection with the famous mark.”

On Jan. 4, TRU Kids served Zaza R Us with a cease and desist letter, demanding it stops using the Toys R Us mark.

TRU Kids claims that Zaza R Us tarnishes the "kid-friendly" image of Toys R Us with its smoking and drug-related products.

TRU Kids is asking the court to stop ZAZA from using the "R Us" mark.
