Hundreds of commuters flocked to the London Underground on Sunday in the bitter cold wearing only their underwear.

What Happened: A huge number of photos and videos amassed social media as “No Trousers Tube Ride” — the name of which is quite self-explanatory — returned to the British capital on Sunday for the first time in two years.

Despite the temperature being in low single digits, commuters travelling on the London Underground were seen in their underwear in an effort to give their fellow travelers something to giggle about.

The annual event, which first came to the city in 2009, is inspired by the “No Pants Subway Ride” in New York City. In London, it has been postponed for the last two years amid COVID-19 woes.

Although the event is for fun and laughter, it does have some rules for the participants to adhere to, including no thongs, see-through garments or "anything else that might offend people."

"Our aim is to make people laugh, not p**s them off," Stiff Upper Lip Society, the organizer of the event, said, according to Yahoo UK.

A huge number of participants amassed at London's Chinatown to kick off their journey, with group leaders instructing them to remove their pants and pack them in their backpacks.

Photos on the internet even showed some of them wearing brightly colored budgie smugglers, with formal attires on their top halves.
