Oppenheimer has a published a research report reiterating Semtech Corporation's (NASDAQ: SMTC) day-old announcement that it will acquire all outstanding shares of Gennum Corporation (TSE:GND).In the report, Oppenheimer welcomes the new of the acquisition. “Gennum compliments Semtech's existing comms businesses (SERDES and timing/synch) and the acquisition highlights SMTC's increased commitment to this sticky, high profit vertical. At first glance, the deal appears strategic, synergistic and materially accretive and we applaud the move. Given the diverse nature of the comms infrastructure equipment markets, we see few regulatory hurdles standing in the way of SMTC closing the transaction in a timely fashion,” Oppenheimer said.Oppenheimer maintains its Outperform rating and $30.00 PT on Semtech Corp., which closed yesterday at $26.89.
