SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

For the eighth consecutive year, Perkins Coie is proud to announce that it has been named to FORTUNE magazine's "The 100 Best Places to Work For." This year the firm was ranked 75, an improvement over last year's ranking of 82. The full list and any related stories appear in the February 8 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands January 27 and at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies on January 21.

"It's an honor to have made the list for the eighth year in a row," said Managing Partner Robert Giles. "We continue to focus on attracting, retaining and promoting dedicated people who provide outstanding service to our clients, and it is important to us that those people feel that they work in a rewarding environment. This distinction with FORTUNE magazine is validation of our commitment to providing that environment for our employees."

Perkins Coie is regularly recognized for its accomplishments in the legal profession, its commitment to diversity and excellent client service. The firm was named, for the second consecutive year, one of the "2009 Best Law Firms for Women" by Working Mother magazine and national consulting firm Flex-Time Lawyers LLC and also earned the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's top rating of 100 percent in the 2009 and 2010 Corporate Equality Index. The firm also received the Corporate Partnership Award for Supporting People With Disabilities.

In 2009, the firm was ranked as a leader in 29 practices both nationwide and in nine key markets across the country by Chambers USA. Also, 141 of its attorneys from offices across the United States were selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

FORTUNE Deputy Managing Editor Hank Gilman says, “The most important considerations for this year’s list were hiring and the ways in which companies are helping their employees weather the recession. All 100 companies on our list are currently hiring, many of them aggressively, leading to more than 96,000 open job positions expected in the next year.”

To pick the 100 Best Companies, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management's credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The other one-third of the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring, communication, and diversity.

About Perkins Coie: With more than 700 lawyers in 15 offices across the United States and in China, Perkins Coie serves great companies ranging in size from start-ups to FORTUNE 100.
