posted a profit in its fiscal second quarter. For the year, it lifted its earnings forecast to $0.18 to $0.27 per share on sales of $25.1 billion to $25.3 billion. Rite Aid earlier expected a profit between a penny and $0.15 per share on sales of $24.9 billion to $25.3 billion. Rite Aid posted a quarterly profit of $32.8 million, or $0.03 per share, versus a year-ago loss of $38.8 million, or $0.05 per share. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.04 per share. Its total drugstore sales climbed 0.8% to $6.28 billion. Rite Aid jumped 14.56% to $4.25 in pre-market trading.
