The Unexpected Victim Of A Potential 'Brexit' Vote: "Game of Thrones"

While finance media outlets have obsessed over the ‘Brexit’ referendum being held today, one potential consequence of Britain leaving the European Union (EU) may not be obvious at first - the impact on Time Warner Inc TWX’s HBO hit show “Game of Thrones.”

The show’s production would face costly obstacles according to a CNBC article poted today. “Game of Thrones” is funded, in part, by the European Regional Development Fund, which tries to increase economic growth in the EU. As a result of the referendum, one of the show’s primary filming locations may be lost, Northern Ireland. Filming could become too costly, forcing HBO to either relocate or find alternative funding.
