Shares of Deutsche Bank AG DB surged higher by nearly 10 percent early Friday morning after the company announced a public tender offer to purchase certain series of Euro and U.S. Dollar denominated senior unsecured debt securities.

Deutsche Bank noted that its "strong liquidity position" allows it to repurchase the securities without any changes to its 2016 funding plan.

Shares of Deutsche Bank traded recently at $16.90, up 8.8 percent in the pre-market session.
