2015 EIA Conference: Who's Speaking & What's Being Said

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) is holding its 2015 EIA Energy Conference on Monday and Tuesday in Washington, DC. This event seeks to address energy issues, not only in the United States, but also at a worldwide scale. The conference’s latest developments can be followed via Twitter.

According to the official website, session topics include:

  • Effects of varying world oil prices: production, economy, and geopolitics
  • Energy markets in North America
  • “The role of emerging energy storage technologies in electricity markets”
  • Domestic and global markets for natural gas
  • “Greenhouse gas emissions: power and methane”
  • Developments in markets for hydrocarbon gas liquids
  • “Electric distribution markets in the 21st century”
  • Energy by water and rail
  • Energy infrastructure necessities and options
  • Commercial and residential energy consumption

Adam Sieminski, EIA’s administrator opened the gathering with a speech a few hours ago. Other keynote speakers include, among others:

  • Dr. Ernest Moniz, U.S. Secretary of Energy
  • Leonardo Beltrán Rodríguez, Mexico’s Deputy Secretary for Planning and Energy Transition
  • JB Straubel, Co-Founder & CTO of Tesla Motors Inc TSLA
  • Harold Hamm, Chairman and CEO at Continental Resources, Inc. CLR
  • Matthew K. Rose, Executive Chairman at the BNSF Railway Company

So far, people have heard Mr. Rose and Mr. Straubel. Mr. Moniz and Mr. Beltrán Rodríguez will speak on Monday afternoon. For his part, Mr. Hamm is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
