Free Tesla? Elon Musk's Twitter Account Gets Hacked
Yes, even one of the biggest CEOs in the world can have his Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) account hacked.
Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) Elon Musk appeared to have his account hacked around 6:45 p.m. ET Saturday. His handle's name was briefly changed to "OneTrueMusk" and made it look like the CEO was offering free Tesla cars.
His account appears to be back in order, as the tweets have been deleted. However, you can check out screenshots of the tweets below.
The official Tesla account also appeared to be hacked earlier in the day. The @rootworx handle mentioned in the Musk tweets has claimed his innocence on Twitter, tweeting, "Again, There is no free car, I did not hack Elon Musk or Tesla's Twitter account. A Finnish child is having fun at your (and my) expense."
Musk has received criticism in the past for allegedly pumping his company's stock based on his tweets. Surely a free car wouldn't help Tesla shares, down 1.8 percent (about $4) in 2015.
