Piers Morgan, the former America's Got Talent Host who replaced Larry King in CNN's Lineup, is seeing Nielsen ratings for his Piers Morgan Tonight show plummet in recent days. In fact, on Thursday 1/27, CNBC's Supermarket, Inc. special at 9 p.m. beat Piers Morgan Tonight. CNBC had viewership of 234k in the coveted 25-54 demo and 504k total viewers. Piers Morgan, on the other hand, hit his lowest viewership to date with only 498k viewers and just 164k in the 25-54 demo. The lackluster numbers came with the popular Kardashian sisters as guests, nonetheless. Since the show debuted with Oprah on January 17, total viewership has fallen 76% and 69% in the key 25-54 age demographic. Total viewership for Piers' debut show was 2,099,000. By January 27th, that number had fallen to 498,000. CNN is already taking steps to address the declining viewership of Piers Morgan Tonight. Just today the network announced that they have hired former Barbara Walters booker Katie Nelson Thomson. Howard Stern, who was the second ever guest on the show on January 18th, clearly isn't a believer in the show. He said, "the ratings on that were so low that he was beaten by a cable cooking show," Stern said. "And I told Piers this, 'Like stop going around bragging like you're gonna be the next Barbara Walters, or something.'" Ouch.
