Now that Donald Trump has essentially locked up the Republican presidential nomination, he is beginning the process of raising the obscene amount of money that it takes to run a general election campaign. One of the people who will be helping Trump in this fundraising effort is hedge fund manager Anthony Scaramucci.

Gawker recently interviewed Scaramucci; below are five key points Scaramucci made about Trump:

#1. No More Self-Funding

Trump will no longer be self-funding his campaign. Scaramucci said Trump spent $57 million of his own money on his presidential run through the primary season, but he plans to take advantage of the Republican fundraising infrastructure, including Scaramucci, to raise money for the general election.

2. 'Starting Points'

Trump’s campaign promises are starting points, not ending points. Scaramucci repeatedly stressed that Trump is a negotiator, and smart negotiators always start with an extreme position and then compromise.

3. Language Concers

Trump’s biggest problem is language, not ideas. Scaramucci said Trump’s unwillingness to sugar-coat his messages are why many people accuse him of being a racist a sexist and a bigot. However, Scaramucci believes Trump is not actually racist, but he is also not a natural politician, familiar with the best way to frame his ideas.

4. No Trade War

5. The Wall Will Come

Trump will not start a trade war. Scaramucci believes that Donald Trump has no intention of starting trade wars with Mexico and China, and his confrontational rhetoric on the topic is more about highlighting the United States’s leverage in future trade talks than sparking international conflict.

Trump will build a border wall. Scaramucci said Trump’s plans to build a border wall with Mexico and temporarily ban Muslim immigration are practical proposals meant to address real issues with the current immigration system. However, these policies aren’t about racism or isolationism, they are simply about figuring out ways to better enforce the current immigration laws that are on the book.
