Search engine snafus could be a thing of the past with Vizibility. Technology pioneer James Alexander's newest venture,
Vizibility.com
, provides individuals and businesses with the ability to decide and deliver information provided about them on search engine queries. Vizibility's reputation of “
gaming Google
” stems from its ability to siphon information provided in a search. Once signing up for the service, a user is able to choose accurate links which are then populated in any search query about that user. “We're a Google society: we Google everything,” Alexander said. “So it's incredibly important that we know what's online about us.” In other words, an awkward search engine query by a potential employer or even a potential date is now avoidable. “People talk about online reputations in this detached context,” Alexander said. “Reputation is also a very personal thing between two people.” Social networks are very powerful in a business or even informal context, Alexander explains, but information and connections gained in them are often created before or after meeting a person – thus rendering them less powerful in a face-to-face or interview situation. “[My information] doesn't have the power that it could have had, if I were to have made that connection live,” he said. Alexander would know. With two companies and a successful career under his belt, Alexander began Vizibility after an unsuccessful personal Google search. “I started the business because I couldn't find myself in Google,” Alexander said. “I was surprised because I had a 15 year career in technology.” Although Vizibility can keep unsavory, inaccurate, and unrelated information at bay, it is also a strong tool for companies looking for Web recognition. Vizibility's product offering includes branding services, a newly-launched Mobile ID toolkit, and Google AdWords. Product pricing ranges from free individual accounts to paid individual and business accounts. Vizibility has also been found to be extremely SEO friendly, Alexander said, as the company's “Search Me” service tends to move links up in search results. Vizibility received $1.3 million in seed funding in August, allowing Alexander's company to take entrepreneurship to the next level and improve Vizibility's, well, visibility. “Now it's [time to] go out and prove that we may deliver value, and that's what we're focusing on doing,” Alexander said.
