Social Media Analytics: Crowd & Expert Sentiment On The Google-Twitter Acquisition, Crude Oil
As social media continues to gain importance in the investing world, knowing what is being said is becoming crucial.
Market Prophit compiles and analyzes investing-related social media commentary and develops statistics that tell users both the crowd and the expert (or Market Prophit) sentiment.
Benzinga spoke with CEO Igor Gonta, who provided an updated summary of recently trending stocks and some other social media stock chatter.
The Google-Twitter Issue
Gonta tells Benzinga that the Crowd is neutral on Google right now, however, Market Prophits are bearish. “The divergence started occurring on March 27th.”
For Twitter, “the Crowd is bullish but the Market Prophit sentiment is bearish and the divergence started occurring around March 16th.”
Over the last week, a "Top Market Prophit" of note (top tweeter by returns) for Twitter was @TradeArcher, Gonta said.
“With the record build today and the framework agreement agreed to with Iran, oil has been under pressure. For the the symbol CL_F, which is crude oil futures on Market Prophit, the Crowd has been slightly bearish while the Market Prophits have been very bearish. The divergence in sentiment started occurring around March 30th.”
In the last week, @RalstonMax was a “Top Market Prophit.”
