Time Warner Inc (NYSE: TWX)'s HBO has just released the much anticipated Bernie Madoff movie "The Wizard Of Lies," starring Robert De Niro playing arguably the most notorious white collar criminal in history.

Reportedly, the academy award winner was initially unsure of whether he wanted to do the movie but is now glad he did. “What he did is beyond my comprehension. There’s a disconnect somehow in him,” De Niro was quoted as saying in an A.V. Club article.

The film, based on Diana B. Henriques' book of the same title, tells the behind the scenes story of Madoff, the mastermind behind arguably one of the (if not the) largest ponzi scheme in history, amounting to $65 billion taken from investors over the span of three decades. Directed by Barry Levinson, the movie also features Michelle Pfeiffer as Ruth Madoff. "The Wizard Of Lies" is set to premiere in May.

As for the real Madoff, he is still up to his old ways behind bars, after cornering the hot chocolate market in his federal detention center home in Butner, North Carolina.
