Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) CEO Elon Musk unveiled solar roof panels that integrate with an updated Powerwall system batteries on Friday at event at the Universal Studios theme park near Los Angeles. Musk said the roof panels "look better than normal roofs, generate electricity, last longer, and have installation costs less than a normal roof plus the cost of electricity. Why would you buy anything else?”

The event was part of an attempt to convince shareholders to approve Tesla’s proposed acquisition of SolarCity (NASDAQ: SCTY). The vote is schedule for November 17.

The Powerwall 2, which has twice the storage capacity of the previous model, sells for $5,500. Musk said Tesla expects to sell more Powerwalls than cars.
