The Dow rose 0.43 percent to 18,164.89, while the NASDAQ composite index climbed 1 percent to 5,251.66. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.62 percent to 2,139.77.

The worst performing industries in the market today are:

  • Auto Parts Wholesale: This industry slipped 1.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Magna International Inc. (USA) (NYSE: MGA), which fell 2.8 percent. Magna is expected to announce its Q3 financial results on November 3, 2016.
  • Appliances: This industry declined 1 percent by 11:00 am with iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ: IRBT) moving down 1.7 percent. iRobot is scheduled to issue its Q3 financial results on October 25, 2016.
  • Farm & Construction Machinery: This industry fell 0.9 percent by 11:00 am ET. Titan International Inc (NYSE: TWI) shares dropped 1.1 percent in today's trading. Titan International shares have surged 41.21 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 4.57 percent in the same period.
  • Credit Services: The industry dropped 0.6 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Enova International Inc (NYSE: ENVA), which declined 2.2 percent. Enova International is projected to release Q3 financial results on October 27, 2016.
