Now that Nintendo Co., Ltd (ADR) (OTC: NTDOY) has doubled in less than two weeks from Pokémon GO's viral popularity, other companies have taken notice and will likely capitalize on the revolutionary trend.

Walt Disney Co (NYSE: DIS) and Time Warner Inc (NYSE: TWX) are potential players in the industry, with their arsenal of franchises and popular characters, according to a recent Seeking Alpha piece.

Currently, there is an online petition to create a "Harry Potter" augmented reality game, which would certainly game a lot of traction with its massive following. Movie studios could also revitalize their old franchises by creating AR games.

A few other proposed AR games follow:

  • "The Godfather"
  • "Blade Runner"
  • "Star Wars"
  • "Hunger Games"

Some of the technology firms that have a stake in augmented reality include Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Himax Technologies, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ: HIMX).
