Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRK.A) Chairman Warren Buffett is said to be backing a consortium seeking to acquire Yahoo Inc's (NASDAQ: YHOO) internet assets, according to sources as reported by Reuters on Friday. The buyer's group, includes Dan Gilbert, founder of Quicken Loans and is in second round of bidding, the sources said. A Quicken Loans spokeswoman declined comment on the report. Yahoo had not yet responded to a request for comment.Yahoo closed at $36.48 on Friday, down 1.5%. Dick's, Modell's Said to Bid for Fewer Sports Authority Assets than ExpectedThe Rumor:
Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (NYSE: DKS) and Modell's Inc., are said to be bidding for fewer Sports Authority stores than had been expected, according to sources as reported by Dow Jones on Friday. The sources reported that Dick's will bid for only 20 stores of its troubled rival, while Modell's only is bidding for a handful of stores.The auction for Sports Authority assets begins Monday and runs until the end of May.Dick's closed at $40.70 on Friday, down 3.23%.Akara Bio to Acquire WaferGen Bio-systemsThe Deal:
WaferGen Bio-systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WGBS) and Takara Bio USA Holdings, Inc. announced Friday, that they have entered into a merger agreement pursuant to which Takara subsidiary TBUSH will acquire WaferGen for an aggregate cash purchase price that will be based on a multiple of WaferGen's 2016 calendar revenue and capped at $50.0 million, subject to the potential adjustments. The merger is expected to in February or March of 2017.Wafergen closed at $0.90 on Friday, up 63%.
