Shares of LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) were down more than 26 percent in Thursday’s after-hours session, following the company’s fourth quarter fiscal 2015 financial results. The professional networking firm posted earnings of $0.94 per share, above the Street’s consensus of $0.79 per share. Revenue of $861.89 million was in line with expectations.

However, weak guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2016 sent the stock tumbling. Management said it expects EPS of $0.55 on revenue of about $820 million, well below the Street's $0.72 and $868.19 million.

Tableau Software Inc (NYSE: DATA) crashed over 47 percent after the bell rang. The company posted earnings of $0.33 per share on revenue of $202.75 million, beating expectations for $0.16 per share and $201.24 million. According to Mizuho’s Abhey Lamba, the large decline in the stock price was driven by a miss on license revenue.

"Tableau’s revenues and EPS came in slightly above consensus but all important license sales were marginally below. We note that the management team had been delivering significant beats since IPO and expectations were for a material license beat. The quarter’s performance could imply tougher competitive environment especially from Microsoft," Lamba said.

Athenahealth, Inc (NASDAQ: ATHN) was down about 1 percent on its earnings call. The tech company posted earnings of $0.45 per share on revenue of $257.53 million, versus the Street's consensus of $0.41 per share and $257.69 million.

Other companies that saw stocks tumble after reported earnings on Thursday:

  • Outerwall Inc (NASDAQ: OUTR), down more than 14 percent
  • Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (USA) (NYSE: LGF), down about 5.66 percent

Disclosure: Javier Hasse holds no positions in any of the securities mentioned above.
