The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 0.71 percent to 1,872.47.The worst performing industries in the market today are: Technical Services: This industry declined 2.7 percent by 11:00 am with Aecom (NYSE: ACM) moving down 0.8 percent. AECOM is expected to report fiscal year 2016 first-quarter results on February 9, 2016. Silver: The industry dropped 2.2 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Coeur Mining Inc (NYSE: CDE), which declined 5.8 percent. Silver futures fell 1.59 percent to trade at $13.94 an ounce. Long Distance Carriers: This industry slipped 1.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was General Communication, Inc. (NASDAQ: GNCMA), which fell 2.2 percent. General Communication shares have surged 17.81 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has slipped 9.88 percent in the same period. Investment Brokerage - Regional: This industry fell 1.6 percent by 11:00 am ET. Raymond James Financial, Inc. (NYSE: RJF) shares dropped 2.7 percent in today's trading. Raymond James Financial reported downbeat Q1 earnings.
