(NYSE: DIS) announced on Monday its Board of Directors has elected Mark Parker as a director, effective immediately.Parker is also the current CEO of Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE), a role he has held since January 2006 after joining the company nearly 40 years ago. His appointment to Disney's Board brings the total membership to 12 members. Other notable executives that sit on Disney's Board of Directors include Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR)'s CEO Jack Dorsey, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ: BBRY)'s CEO John Chen and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB)'s COO Sheryl Sandberg."As CEO of Nike, Mark is widely recognized for driving the stellar growth of an industry-leading brand," said Robert A. Iger, Disney's chairman and CEO. "His keen insight into consumers and his broad experience in international markets make him a great fit for the Disney Board."Investors appear to be bullish on the news as Walt Disney's stock was trading higher by more than 1 percent at $101.22 at a time when the Dow Jones index was trading flat for the day.
