BioMed Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: BMR) announced Thursday, that Blackstone will acquire all outstanding shares of common stock of BioMed Realty for $23.75 per share in cash, in a transaction valued at $8 billion. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 of 2016.BioMed Realty closed at $23.45 on Thursday, a gain of 8.5%.NII Holdings Exploring Options for Brazilian Nextel UnitThe Rumor:
Latin American mobile service provider NII Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: NIHD) is considering strategic alternatives for its Nextel branded Brazil unit, according to sources, as reported by Reuters on Thursday. NII has discussed hiring an adivsor to assist in the process, the sources said.NII did not respond to a request for comment.NII Holding closed at $6.64 Thursday, down 4.5%.Elliott Management Discloses Stakes in Mitel, Polycom; Pushes for MergerThe Investor Letter:
Elliott Management disclosed a 6.6% stake in Polycom Inc (NASDAQ: PLCM) and a 9.6% stake in Mitel Networks on Thursday. Elliott urged Polycom to conduct a strategic review in a letter and consider a merger with Mitel Networks Corp (NASDAQ: MITL).Mitel responded to the Elliott stake, saying "we share their (Elliot's) views as to consolidation opportunities in our industry." Polycom said they would be meeting with Elliott to "discuss their thoughts."Mitel Networks closed at $8.18 Thursday, up $16.5%, while Polycom share rose 16.7%, closing at $13.35.
