The Rumor:
Shares of Fidelity National Information Services Inc., (NYSE: FIS) surged higher Thursday, on a report from Bloomberg, that the company is in exclusive talks to acquire SunGard Data Systems Inc. for more than $8.3 billion. Sources says the deal would consist of approximately 50 percent cash and 50 percent stock.A spokesperson for FIS declined comment to Benzinga on the rumor. A Sunguard representaitve was not available for comment.FIS closed at $66.00 on Thursday, a gain of more than 4%. Thoma Bravo Ends Takeover Bid for NCR, According to SourcesThe Rumor:
Private equity firm Thoma Bravo has pulled out of the running for NCR (NYSE: NCR), according to sources as reported by the NY Post. The sources stated that Thoma Bravo was not offering much of a premium the recent price range and that is why the talks fell apart.Both Marcato Capital Management and Jana Partners has been pushing for a sale of the company.NCR closed at $27.61 Thursday, a loss of 9%. Grainger to Acquire Cromwell for $482MThe Deal:
Grainger (NYSE: GWW) announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cromwell Group (Holdings) Limited and its subsidiaries for approximately $482 million in cash. The deal is expected to be completed in early September. Grainger closed Thursday at $225.01, down $1.95.
