Tessera Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSRA) jumped more than 4 percent in Monday's late trading session to $42.16. Shares of the patent holding company hit a 52-week high last week.

Books-A-Million, Inc. (NASDAQ: BAMM) extended its gains in after-hours trading Monday, changing hands recently at $2.75, up 3 percent. The bricks-and-mortar bookstore chain posted quarterly results after the bell.

Medivation Inc (NASDAQ: MDVN) picked up nearly 3 percent in extended trading Monday to $137.93. The development-stage biotech company didn't provide any news.

HomeAway, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWAY) recouped much of its earlier losses, gaining more than 2 percent in the after-hours session to $30.87. The online vacation rental property marketplace operator issued no news.

Anthera Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ANTH) continued to gain in late trading, picking up about 2 percent to $4.56 a share. The company, which completed a public offering last week of 5.6 million shares, was assigned a price target of $7.50 Monday by Piper Jaffray.

Vaalco Energy, Inc. (NYSE: EGY) plunged 20 percent in Monday's extended session to $2.50 a share after the company provided an update on its operations in offshore Angola.

Teck Resources Ltd (NYSE: TCK) fell nearly 7 percent to $14.26 after the copper mining concern denied a report by Bloomberg that it is in merger talks with Antofagasta Plc (OTC: ANFGY).

Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp (NASDAQ: SNTA) fell 9 percent to $2.12 in late trading as it launched a public offering of its shares.

Insmed Inc. (NASDAQ: INSM) dropped 4 percent to $20.20 after the company announced plans to offer 10 million shares to help finance drug development.

Vitamin Shoppe Inc (NYSE: VSI) declined more than 4 percent in late trading to $40.16 after closing up by a similar percentage. Competitor GNC Holdings Inc (NYSE: GNC) announced a deal earlier Monday with the New York State attorney general's office related to an investigation that also involves Vitamin Shoppe.
