Shares of Altera Corp (NASDAQ: SGYP) spiked sharply higher late Friday, on a on a report from the Wall Street Journal that the company is in talks to be acquired by Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC). Such a deal would be the largest ever for Intel.A spokesperson for Altera declined comment to Benzinga on Friday.
