In the latest Black Friday 2014 news, Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE: BBY) has announced that it will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, or as it is increasingly known in the the world of retail, Black Thursday.

This news follows Target Corporation’s (NYSE: TGT) announcement that it will be opening its doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, its earliest ever Black Thursday opening.

Unlike other retailers, however, Best Buy said that its stores will close at 1 a.m. on Friday morning to reopen again at 8 a.m.

The other major retailers opening on Thanksgiving, such as Target, Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE: M) and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT), will stay open all night once Black Thursday sales begin.

When Best Buy opens on Thanksgiving, its major doorbusters will be a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone for $1 (with a two-year contract) and a Panasonic 50-inch LED TV for $199.

When stores reopen at 8 a.m. on Black Friday, there will be new doorbuster deals, including Microsoft’s Surface 2 tablet for $150 (regularly $230) and a 50-inch Vizio TV for $500 (regularly $700).

Other Best Buy sales include Beats by Dre headphones for $80 (regularly $170), $100 off all Apple iPad Air 2 tablets and $9.99 each for new movies on Blu-ray.

As for Target, BradsDeals.com has posted a scan of the retailer's 39-page Black Thursday/Friday flier. Deals include include a Samsung 50-inch HDTV for $477 and a Sony Blu-ray player with built-in Wi-Fi for $49.

Some deals, however, including $97 for Beats by Dre headphones and an $80 gift card with the purchase of an iPad, don't compete with Best Buy's comparable offerings.

Macy's also released its official Black Thursday/Friday sales, but did so in two parts: a 44-page flier advertises Thanksgiving Day sales, while a 54-page version shows off Black Friday deals. Like Target, Macy’s will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
