Mayflower Bancorp, Inc. (Nasdaq: MFLR) today reported net income of $336,000 or $0.16 per share for its first quarter ended July 31, 2010, a 45% improvement as compared to earnings of $232,000 or $0.11 per share for the same quarter last year. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter were $0.16 compared to $0.11 for the same quarter of last year. In conjunction with these announcements, Edward M. Pratt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mayflower, also reported that the company's board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $.06 per share to be payable on September 8, 2010, to shareholders of record as of September 1, 2010.
