According to The NPD Group, a leading market research company, Android smartphone operating system (OS) by Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) continued to gain share in the US consumer mobile phone market in Q2. The NPD Group said that for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2007, Research In Motion's (NASDAQ: RIMM) Blackberry fell to the second position, giving way to Android. Android has now become the top-selling handset operating systems sold in the US. In the latest survey conducted by the NPD, Android accounted for 33% of the smartphones purchased in Q2, followed by RIMM, which grabbed 28% share, and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), which accounted for 22% share.Read more
