Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) notes with sadness the death of board member Jerald G. Fishman, who passed away on March 28. He had served on the Cognex Board of Directors since 1998. Mr. Fishman was CEO of Analog Devices, the Norwood, Massachusetts-based maker of integrated circuits (ICs) and digital signal processors (DSPs), from 1996 until the time of his death. He joined Analog Devices in 1971 and had served in a variety of management roles for the company prior to becoming its Chief Executive Officer. “I have known Jerry for more than 15 years and during that time he has been both a trusted advisor and a good friend,” said Dr. Robert J. Shillman, Cognex's founder and Chairman. “At board meetings, Jerry would never shy away from forcefully stating his opinion and the rationale behind it…even if it was contrary to the views of others. His suggestions, based on his wealth of business experience, helped our board make strategic decisions that contributed substantially to our company's success.” Dr. Shillman continued, “Cognex will begin a search for a new independent director to join the company's board, but it will be a very difficult task to find an individual who is as smart, as experienced, as honest, as straightforward and as personable as Jerry.” About Cognex Corporation Cognex Corporation designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of products that incorporate sophisticated machine vision technology that gives them the ability to “see.” Cognex products include barcode readers, machine vision sensors and machine vision systems that are used in factories, warehouses and distribution centers around the world to guide, gauge, inspect, identify and assure the quality of items during the manufacturing and distribution process.
