Elon Musk has issued a stern warning of potential account suspensions for those attempting to manipulate the creator compensation program on Twitter, now rebranded as X

What Happened: On Tuesday, Musk took to X and posted, “Please note that any attempts to manipulate the creator compensation program on this platform will result in account suspension,” and left many users baffled.

In the comment section, users expressed their confusion over what constitutes manipulation, asking questions like “How does anyone manipulate it?” and “Manipulate in what aspect? How?”

Some speculated that it might involve preventing third-party access or unauthorized account usage. Even those not yet eligible for the creator compensation program expressed concerns about inadvertently falling afoul of these rules.

However, there’s no need to panic.

Previously, the X Support account informed users that the platform had intensified its enforcement efforts against the manipulation of monetization features, citing instances involving high-follower accounts like @historyinmemes.

These accounts were temporarily suspended for actions such as “selling/purchasing Post or account metric inflation – selling or purchasing followers or engagements (Reposts, Likes, mentions, X Poll votes).”

The aforementioned account was reinstated on the platform at the time of writing.

Thank you for giving me a second chance, I really appreciate it. X has changed my life, and I won't make the same mistake twice🤝

Why It’s Important: X’s creator revenue program includes various avenues. It allows users to earn revenue from ads in replies, profit from video pre-roll monetization, and collect subscription-based income.

In July earlier this year, X started paying creators from the ad revenue sharing program, some of whom earned as much as $37,050.
