Following Elon Musk's Thursday announcement about his planned departure from the CEO role at Twitter, speculation has been rife about who will take the reins.

The buzz currently centers on Linda Yaccarino, who resigned from her role as Comcast Corporation's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) NBCUniversal global advertising chief, feeding the rumor mill.

Yaccarino's speculated appointment has raised concerns among Twitter users, particularly due to her executive chair position at the World Economic Forum, an event often criticized for its exclusivity and elitism.

One Twitter user posted a snapshot of Yaccarino's LinkedIn profile, warning, "we're all going to be banned again." Musk, however, responded, "That will not be the case," further dumping fuel on the rumor mill.

If appointed as Twitter's CEO, Yaccarino is set to inherit a role fraught with complex challenges. Musk's acquisition of the platform last year triggered a significant exodus of advertisers, unnerved by the uncertainty that shrouded Twitter's future course and possible shifts in moderation policies.

Yaccarino, known in industry circles as the "velvet hammer," The Wall Street Journal noted, is highly regarded for her deep-seated connections with marketers and advertising agencies.

Supervising an annual ad revenue north of $13 billion, Yaccarino seems well-positioned to rekindle the interest of wary advertisers.

Meanwhile, Musk is preparing to transition into a more technical role as Twitter's executive chair and chief technology officer, ensuring his continued influence over the platform's product development, software, and systems operations.
