Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has teamed up with Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) to enable users to take their Teams call up a notch.
What Happened: Microsoft Teams users will now have more than 20 Snapchat Lenses, including ones with a sloth on the user’s shoulder, Bear in Love, Cat/Chicken on Head and Sunset Lenses.
Snapchat’s AR Lenses have been integrated directly into the video effects section of Teams by Microsoft, eliminating the need for Teams users to download a separate app or add-on. Users can access these lenses without hassle, as Microsoft has utilized Snap’s Camera Kit SDK to make this possible.

To avail of Snapchat Lenses before starting the next meeting, users need to follow a few quick steps:
Step I: Click Video Effects and then More Video Effects.
Step II: Scroll down and find Snapchat under the Filters category.
Step III: Now select the Lens you prefer and click Join Now.
Users who already attended the meeting and want to choose a filter can follow the following steps:
Step I: Click More and then go to Video Effects.
Step II: Scroll and select Snapchat under the Filters category.
Step III: Check out the filters, select your favorite and click Preview.
Step IV: Once satisfied with the Lens of your choice, select Apply.
Why It’s Important: Microsoft and Snap’s latest addition came just a few months after the latter discontinued its Camera app, which could also apply comparable filters on Teams and its rival Zoom.
Initially launched in 2018 and aimed mainly at Twitch streams, Snap Camera grew in popularity during the pandemic’s surge in video calls, leading to memorable moments such as a boss becoming a potato for an entire Microsoft Teams meeting, according to The Verge.
