Mead Johnson Spokesperson Says Company Does Not Add Vanillin into Stage 1 Products

Mead Johnson (NYSE: MJN) spokesperson Gail Wood told Benzinga the company "does not add vanillin into Stage 1 products which are designed for infants 0 to 6 months of age and Vanillin is not an ingredient. All Mead Johnson products comply with CODEX and all applicable laws and regulations in the countries in which they are manufactured, distributed and sold. We are seeking clarification with the testing organization in China to understand their testing methodology and process. Concurrently a nationally certified test center is analyzing our Stage 1 product to confirm that it continues to meet all Chinese laws and regulations. Each batch of Mead Johnson's products is assured to meet the company's high quality and safety standards as verified by our proprietary Quality Systems that exist in every manufacturing facility. More than 2,300 quality control checks are conducted across our manufacturing process for our infant formula products. A representative number of samples from every batch we produce is tested to ensure the product meets our stringent quality specifications, and samples of every batch we produce are retained as an extra measure of safety.
