Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC) swung to a fourth-quarter profit on Thursday. Bank of America posted its quarterly net income of $1.58 billion, or $0.15 per share, versus a year-ago net loss of $1.57 billion, or $0.16 per share. Its total revenue surged to $24.89 billion from $22.4 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.15 per share on revenue of $24.08 billion. Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) swung to a loss in the fourth quarter. Morgan Stanley posted a quarterly loss of $227 million, or $0.15 per share, versus a year-ago profit of $600 million, or $0.42 per share. Its consolidated net revenue dropped to $5.71 billion, from $7.74 billion, in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a loss of $0.57 per share on revenue of $5.99 billion.Southwest Airlines Co (NYSE: LUV) reported a 16% rise in its fourth-quarter net income. Southwest Airlines' quarterly earnings rose to $152 million, or $0.20 per share, from $131 million, or $0.18 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its shares outstanding surged 4.4% to 783 million. Southwest Airlines' adjusted earnings came in at $0.09 per share. Its revenue surged to $4.11 billion from $3.11 billion. Analysts were expecting earnings of $0.08 per share on revenue of $4.12 billion.Johnson Controls Inc (NYSE: JCI) reported a rise in its first-quarter profit. Johnson Controls' quarterly profit surged to $410 million, or $0.60 per share, from $375 million, or $0.55 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales rose to $10.42 billion from $9.54 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.62 per share on revenue of $10.53 billion. BB&T Corp (NYSE: BBT) reported an 88% jump in its fourth-quarter earnings. BB&T's quarterly net income surged to $391 million, or $0.55 per share, from $208 million, or $0.30 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue gained 3.4% to $2.4 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.53 per share on revenue of $2.18 billion. Huntington Bancshares Inc (NASDAQ: HBAN) reported a 3.2% rise in its fourth-quarter earnings. Huntington's loan-loss provisions dropped to $45.3 million, versus $87 million, in the year-ago period. Huntington's quarterly profit rose to $126.9 million, from $122.9 million. Its per-share earnings gained to $0.14 from $0.05. Huntington's revenue fell 5.2% to $644.4 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.14 per share on revenue of $653 million.UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH) reported a 21% rise in its fourth-quarter profit. UnitedHealth's quarterly profit surged to $1.26 billion, or $1.17 per share, from $1.04 billion, or $0.94 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue rose 7.9% to $25.92 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.04 per share on revenue of $25.69 billion. Knight Capital Group Inc (NYSE: KCG) reported a rise in its fourth-quarter earnings. Knight Capital's quarterly earnings surged to $40.2 million, or $0.43 per share, from $9.2 million, or $0.10 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue climbed 32% to $341.3 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.25 per share on revenue of $313 million. Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) reported a decline in its first-quarter net income. Rockwell Collins' quarterly net income dropped to $130 million, or $0.86 per share, from $151 million, or $0.96 per share, in the year-earlier period. Its sales fell 1% to $1.09 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.84 per share on revenue of $1.09 billion. PPG Industries Inc (NYSE: PPG) reported its Q4 EPS at $ 1.39 on revenue of $3.50 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.28 per share on revenue of $3.50 billion.Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc (NYSE: FCS) reported a drop in its fourth-quarter profit. Fairchild Semiconductor's quarterly profit declined to $21.3 million, or $0.17 per share, from $51 million, or $0.28 per share, in the year-earlier period. The company's adjusted net income came in at $0.15 per share. Its revenue dropped 15% to $339.4 million, versus $397.7 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.17 per share on revenue of $358.8 million. Blackrock Inc (NYSE: BLK) reported its Q4 EPS at $3.06 on revenue of $2.23 billion. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $3.04 per share on revenue of $2.25 billion. Netscout Systems Inc (NASDAQ: NTCT) reported its Q3 EPS at $0.35 on revenue of $83.30 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.33 per share on revenue of $81.99 million.Novozymes A/S (OTC: NVZMY) reported a 3% rise in its fourth-quarter net profit. Novozymes projects 2012 net profit to rise between 5% and 8% It expects earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) to rise by 9% to 12% versus 2011. Novozymes' quarterly net profit climbed to DKK362 million, versus DKK350 million. Its sales gained 8% to DKK2.59 billion, from DKK2.40 billion. However, analysts were expecting net profit of DKK374.1 million on sales of DKK2.61 billion. Webster Financial Corp (NYSE: WBS) reported its Q4 EPS at $0.43, versus analysts' estimates of $0.42.Hang Lung Properties Ltd (OTC: HLPPY) reported a 26% drop in its net profit for the July-December period. Hang Lung Properties' net profit for the period ended December 31 declined to HK$2.52 billion, versus HK$3.42 billion, in the year-ago period. Hang Lung's underlying profit surged 29% y/y to HK$1.65 billion, from HK$1.28 billion. Its revenue gained 22% to HK$3.07 billion versus HK$2.52 billion.India's HDFC Bank (NYSE: HDB) reported a 31.2% surge in its fiscal third-quarter net profit. HDFC Bank's net profit climbed to 14.3 billion rupees ($283.8 million), from 10.9 billion rupees, in the year-ago period. Its non-interest revenue gained about 26%. Net interest income from its core banking operations climbed nearly 12% to 31.2 billion rupees. Analysts were expecting a net profit of 13.49 billion rupees.Sony Ericsson swung to a loss in the fourth quarter of 2011. Sony Ericsson posted a quarterly pretax loss of 247 million euros ($316.57 million), versus a profit of 31 million euros in the previous three-month period.
