Is Glenn Beck A Religious Leader Now?

Glenn Beck is obviously a despicable man. Racist, xenophobic and completely lacking in compassion, Beck is simply a nasty piece of work. Everybody knows that. But up until very recently, you could at least respect his commitment to his cause. He stood by his every word and seemed to be unshakable.Not any more though. Now, you can add “hypocrite” to the list of Beck's charming personality traits. For years, Beck's radio and television shows have painted the man as an anti-Semite, championing the works of Nazi sympathizer Elizabeth Dilling, as well as Eustace Mullins, who wrote, “The existence of the Jewish parasite upon the host is a crime against nature, because its existence imperils the health and the life of the host.”In addition, he as described Reform Judaism as akin to radicalized Islam. He took that one back, but who else would say something like that? And now he's in Israel, preparing people for the Armageddon. “While there may not be a political solution, the good news is, the God of Abraham ain't running for office,” said Beck to a gathered group of Americans in the northern seaside town of Caesarea. “Know that he is a God of covenants and a God of miracles! We are leaving the age of man-made miracles of spaceflight, and we are reentering the age of miracles of God.”The concept of Beck as a cult leader is frightening, although it is not surprising. He has always talked with the passion and fervor of an incensed evangelist. He has also commended the respect and attention of a small group that think he “tells it like it is”. We can only hold on to faith in the intelligence of the masses and hope that he goes away soon. The world doesn't need any more hate.
