The JP Morgan 43rd Annual Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference is being held this week in Boston, and traders are watching the big tech names that are participating in this year’s conference. This year’s event had some big names lined up, and traders have been listening for any market-moving news.
Meyer headlines
The conference kicked off on Tuesday with a keynote speech by Yahoo! Inc’s (NASDAQ: YHOO) Marissa Mayer. Yahoo shareholders have has a bumpy couple of days. Mayer’s speech at the conference may not have moved the stock much, but fears related to the taxes involves with a potential spinoff of Yahoo’s position in Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE: BABA) tanked the stock in late trading on Tuesday. Yahoo’s stock has bounced back more than 3.6 percent on Wednesday.
Other keynotes
Other keynote speakers at the JP Morgan conference included GoPro Inc’s (NASDAQ: GPRO) Nick Woodman, and FireEye Inc’s (NASDAQ: FEYE) David DeWalt. Both stocks are trading well on Wednesday, with FireEye up 1.5 percent and GoPro surging more than 3.0 percent in early trading.
Names on the move
Several of the other companies presenting at the conference also have stocks that are on the move on Wednesday. Groupon Inc (NASDAQ: GRPN) shares are down 1.7 percent on the day. Pandora Media Inc (NYSE: P) and Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) are also each down by more than 2.0 percent on Wednesday.
Shares of Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ: MU) are higher by 2.4 percent. AMC Networks Inc (NASDAQ: AMCX) is also up by 1.2 percent.
