Typically, one might be inclined to say "Thank goodness it's Friday," but the mood was anything but chipper on Wall Street to finish the week and substantial headline risk looms over the weekend. Over the past few weeks, weekend concerns have revolved around what might happen in the Middle East. Now we have to contend with possibility of a government shutdown right here in the U.S.In other words, this could be one of those weekends when it pays to do a little extra homework and go over some trading ideas for next week. Here are a few from the world of ETFs to get you started.1) Global X Aluminum ETF (NYSE: ALUM):Earnings season kicks off in earnest on Monday when Dow component Alcoa (NYSE: AA) reports first-quarter results after the close and this will be just the second earnings season ALUM has been a part of after debuting in January so it will be interesting to see how the ETF performs this time around.2) Financial Select Sector SPDR (NSYE: XLF):JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) reports before the bell on Wednesday and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) follows on Friday. Yep, XLF will be in play next week.3) First Trust Dow Jones Internet Index Fund (NYSE: FDN):Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) reports after the close on Thursday and FDN offers the largest weighting to the Internet search giant of any ETF at 9.43%. FDN is also a fine way to play on cloud computing news.4) Global X Silver Miners ETF (NYSE: SIL):SIL joined the new all-time high club on Friday and was one of this week's best-performing ETFs. As long as silver keeps up its torrid pace, expect SIL to follow suit.5) iShares MSCI South Africa Index Fund (NYSE: EZA):EZA has moved up in almost straight-line fashion for nearly a month now and that rally has been fueled by soaring gold prices and the return of favorable sentiment toward emerging markets. It can be argued that EZA is overbought here. Then again, the chart shows no resistance for at least another $5 and that $5 could easily be had next week if gold keeps moving higher.
