American Financial Group Pays Approximately 43% Of Its Profit As Dividend

American Financial Group Inc (NYSE: AFG) disclosed it declared a regular dividend of $0.28 per share of common stock. For the full year, the dividend worked out to $1.12 a share.

American Financial Group said that the dividend would be payable on July 25 to holders of record on July 15. The latest dividend offered a yield of 1.5 percent, which is lower than the 2.60 percent yield for the average five-year period.

The company pays 43 percent of its profit as dividend to its shareholders, which was higher than the 33.0 percent dividend paid for the five-year average period. Its dividend growth rate for the five-year period was 30.57 percent, while it was only 33 percent for the average three-year period.

The stock closed Friday trading down 0.72 percent on the day at $73.36.
