General Electric Company (NYSE: GE)'s Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) revealed the delivery of a new leased Boeing 787-9 aircraft powered by its GEnx engines to Air Canada as part of a purchase-and-leaseback transaction with the airline.

General Electric's unit said that a second new 787-9 aircraft was scheduled for delivery to Air Canada in June. According to the company, both aircraft were part of Air Canada's order book with Boeing Co (NYSE: BA). The company disclosed that Air Canada placed an order for 37 Boeing 787s and this delivery represented their 20th 787 to join the fleet.

GECAS' president and CEO, Alec Burger commented, "Air Canada is a longstanding GECAS customer and we are delighted to support its fleet renewal program with our first leased 787-9."

Similarly, Air Canada's EVP and CFO, Michael Rousseau, said, "GECAS has been a strong partner of Air Canada's on many fleet financing opportunities over the years and this is the latest example of our successful partnership."

Shares of the company traded 0.12 percent higher on Tuesday.
