General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) unit, GE Appliances, revealed that it launched three new channels on "If This Then That" (IFTTT). That doubles their current IFTTT presence to six from three channels. As a result, GE Appliances became the first appliance maker to have its entire appliance suite on the platform.GE Appliances indicated that it was working with IFTTT since June of 2015 trying to add functionality for users to get more out of their GE Appliances products. The company added that the new channels add in functionality for its washer, dryer and dishwasher units, allowing users to connect their appliances to over 100 other applications and connected devices. That included Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB), Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR), smart lighting, and other smart home products. The company's scrum master, Bret Luckabaugh, said that "Having the full suite available on IFTTT allows consumers to stay on top of their home appliances in new ways that are created just for them and their lifestyle. With six GE Appliances channels on IFTTT there are endless possibilities for consumers to create new recipes, giving them more control over their smart home."Currently, GE Appliances has more than 400 connected users in its multiple IFTTT channels, thus resulting in over 3,000 "recipes" (commands) running every week. The Marketing VP for IFTTT, Anne Mercogliango, reacted to the developments stating that "It's exciting to see GE Appliances bring their vision of a richer, more connected home to life with IFTTT. Having their entire suite of smart appliances on the platform creates new connections for the hundreds of existing apps and devices on IFTTT that gives the power to users to tailor their world to what is important to them."Shares of the company traded 0.02% higher on Thursday.
