Shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) were trading lower by more than 1 percent Wednesday morning despite a positive report of smartphone shipments by DigiTimes.

According to DigiTimes, the mobile phone market in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region grew 23 percent in the third quarter from a year ago. The report noted that Apple's shipments of its iPhone devices grew by 133 percent during the quarter.

Apple also saw its smartphone market share rise to 3.9 percent by the end of the quarter from 2.2 percent a year ago.
