Shares of Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ: AMBA), which tumbled 4.27 percent on Thursday trading, ahead of the company’s third quarter earnings call, continued to decline in after-hours (almost 6 percent) after the results were released. Strangely, earnings of $1.08 per share and revenue of $93.2 million came in ahead of the Street’s consensus estimate of $0.89 per share and $91.47 million.

On the other hand, Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULTA) was surging on its earnings call; since the bell rang, the stock rose more than 4.5 percent. Earnings of $1.11 per share on revenue of $910.7 million beat the Street’s expectations for earnings of $1.05 per share on sales of $879.02 million. Management had guided for EPS in the $1.00 to $1.05 range, on revenue of $869 million to $883 million.

Back to decliners, there’s Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), which was trading down roughly 7 percent in Thursday’s after-hours, after the company missed expectations on both the earnings and revenue fronts. The small cap retailer delivered a net loss of ($0.36) per share on sales of $894.65 million, versus the Steet’s consensus, which called for a net loss of ($0.31) per share and revenue of $917.83 million.

Finally, Five Below Inc (NASDAQ: FIVE) was one of the biggest gainers of the afternoon, up more than 9 percent since the bell rang. Earnings of $0.08 per share came in one cent ahead of the Street’s projections, and revenue of $169.7 million also beat expectations for sales of $166.19 million. The small cap specialty retailer was also spiking on strong guidance on Thursday afternoon.
