Beats Music To End, Apple Music To Become Sole Music Platform

Apple's $3 billion acquisition of Beats in 2014 reaffirmed the company's intentions to enter the music streaming segment. Apple began offering Beats Music to its iOS customers and recently expanded to Android.However, Apple introduced a second music streaming service, Apple Music, back in June. With two distinct music streaming services under the same company, it makes sense that Apple announced on Friday that Beats Music will be shut off for good on November 30.ComputerWorld noted that Apple's decision to discontinue Beats Music was "inevitable." Shares of Apple were relatively quiet following the announcement. The stock was trading lower by just 0.17 percent before Friday's opening bell. "All the pros that curated music for you are still crafting more amazing experiences," Beats said on its customer support page. "Plus, on Apple Music, you'll get even better recommendations based on music you already listen to and love, 24/7 global radio with Beats 1, exciting material from your favorite artist, and more."Beats subscribers will see their membership automatically end at the end of the month. Until then, users can transfer their preferences and music picks to Apple Music. The company even included detailed instructions on how to migrate their music from beats Music to Apple Music.
