Deanna Nickel Rose was raised off the shores of Lake Erie in Lakewood, Ohio. She attended Wartburg College and Youngstown State University. She worked as a parish youth worker for Lutheran congregations in Long Lake, Illinois and Boardman, Ohio. She later worked as a social worker at County Children Services, as well as at an Assisted Living and Nursing Home facility – – before retiring from the Lakewood Division of Youth Services. She has been a prayer leader for over 30 years in her home congregations and at special events including a guest prayer leader at a Lane Adams Crusade (A Billy Graham associate). She taught Christian education and led and organized workshops and retreats on spiritual issues including prayer and making prayer beads.
