Methode Electronics Inc. (NYSE: MEI) tumbled over 19 percent in pre-market trading after the company reported results for its fiscal fourth quarter and issued a weak forecast for the full year. The Chicago, Illinois-based company posted quarterly earnings of $26.6 million, or $0.68 per share, compared to $48.1 million, or $1.25 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Excluding non-recurring items, the company's earnings rose to $0.51 per share from $0.38 per share.Its revenue gained 1.1 percent year-over-year to $227.3 million from from $224.9 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.68 per share on revenue of $228.1 million.The average estimate among 7 Estimize users was for earnings of $0.69 per share and revenue of $229.98 million.Automotive segment' net sales rose 0.8 percent in the latest quarter, while Interface segment's sales came in virtually flat. Power Products segment's net sales rose 16.6 percent year-over-year in the latest quarter.Consolidated gross margins as a percentage of sales widened to 22.9 percent in the quarter, versus 19.0 percent in the year-ago quarter.Selling and administrative expenses as a percentage of net sales rose to 11.6 percent from 9.2 percent.President and Chief Executive Officer Donald W. Duda said, "Methode's Fiscal 2015 was a year of continued growth, as sales, income from operations and earnings per share were the highest in our Company's history, while we generated nearly $95 million in cash. The execution by our teams to achieve these results is very impressive. Our Automotive segment increased operating income 80 percent, while the Power Products segment exceeded our expectations as a major customer accelerated its demand."Methode projects FY16 earnings of $2.07 to $2.22 per share, on revenue of $830 million to $865 million. Analysts expected earnings of $2.58 per share on revenue of $881.8 million.Methode shares fell 21.76 percent to $33.70 in pre-market trading.
