PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: ATI) announced that Melissa E. Martinez has been named ATI's Vice President, New Product Development. In this new position, Ms. Martinez will be responsible for leading the establishment and implementation of a company-wide research and development (R&D) process, focusing and utilizing the talents and assets of ATI's business units. Ms. Martinez will report to Kevin Kramer, ATI's Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer and will be based at ATI's Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Melissa Martinez joined ATI Specialty Alloys and Components in 2006 in the Research and Development function focused on metallurgy research for new product development. During her tenure with ATI, Ms. Martinez has held positions of increasing managerial and leadership responsibility, including facilitating projects across ATI's business units. Prior to joining ATI, Ms. Martinez was a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with experience as both a research and teaching assistant.

Ms. Martinez is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Master of Science Degree in Polymer Science and Engineering.
