Schoenberger said that Microsoft was “stale” and similar to a “utility company.” Even though Microsoft was stable, there were “better growth prospects” available to investors.

“What you’re missing out on is opportunity elsewhere,” according to Schoenberger, who went on to mention companies like Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) for better growth.

Schoenberger noted that one of Microsoft’s challenges is that it does not create innovative hardware, however, some investors might prefer it if they are interested in stability over growth.

Microsoft closed at $48.03, up 0.33 percent.
