(NYSE: UL) reported a 5% gain in its full-year profit.Unilever posted a net profit of EUR5.5 billion for the full year. Core earnings per share rose 2% at current exchange rates to EUR 1.61. Its operating profit climbed 6% to EUR8.0 billion.Its revenue slipped 2.7% to EUR48.4 billion. Sales in China tumbled 20% in the fourth quarter.In the fourth quarter, Unilever's underlying sales gained 2.1%.In 2014, its underlying sales rose 5.7% in emerging markets, compared to 8.7% growth in the year-ago period.Paul Polman, Chief Executive Officer said, "Despite a challenging year for our industry with significant economic headwinds and weak markets we have delivered another year of competitive underlying sales growth and margin expansion. This consistency, now established over the last six years, has been achieved during a period of high volatility as we have built a more resilient company.”Unilever shares gained 1.16% to close at $41.78 on Friday.
